Match preview

Goals flowed when Arsenal played Dundalk in the Europa League on Thursday but after that 4-2 success a much tighter affair is expected when the Gunners host Burnley in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche's Clarets have won only one of their opening ten league fixtures this term and, still short of players, they look worth opposing at the Emirates Stadium.

They will not make it easy for the Gunners, who themselves have fallen on hard times. Last week's 2-0 derby defeat to Tottenham means they have taken a miserly 13 points from 11 Premier League games.

And although they have shipped fewer league goals than Liverpool, Leicester or Manchester United this season, they have struggled in the final third.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last found the net from the penalty spot against Manchester United at the start of November and there is a lack of creativity in the Arsenal ranks.

That enhances the chances of a low-scoring affair but punters should still fancy the home side to come out on top.

They had 70 per cent of the ball and won the shot count 11-5 against Spurs and Burnley should be easier to breach given that they have leaked 12 goals in five matches on their travels.

Mikel Arteta's men have plenty of issues to resolve but they should at least assert their superiority over a Burnley outfit who have also lost their way in 2020-21.

Key stat

Arsenal's 11 league matches this season have featured 24 goals.
