Former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has been backed to succeed Arsene Wenger as Gunners manager, with Juventus boss Max Allegri on the drift.

Arteta, Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City, had been a 14-1 chance last week but he was trading at 15-8 for the job after plenty of support from punters on Monday.

But there was also money for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who was cut from 12-1 to 5-1 by Betway and is as short as 5-2 elsewhere.

Allegri played down his chances of leaving Juventus after the Old Lady secured the Serie A title on Sunday and he is out to 5-1 to move to Arsenal.

Thomas Tuchel, who was backed into 6-4 to take the Arsenal job shortly after the announcement of Wenger's departure, has been confirmed as the new manager of Paris St-Germain.

Maurizio Sarri, whose Napoli side were pipped to the title by Allegri's Juventus, is Ladbrokes' 11-4 favourite to be Chelsea's next permanent manager.

A 3-0 defeat at Newcastle on the final day of the Premier League season increased the pressure on Antonio Conte and Ladbrokes make the Italian 100-30 to be sacked before Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester United.

That would be a dramatic development but Conte's future looks increasingly likely to lie away from Stamford Bridge. He is 2-7 with Ladbrokes to have left before the Blues' first Premier League game of next season and 11-5 to still be at the club.

Luis Enrique, an early front-runner in the next Arsenal manager betting, has drifted to 20-1 for the Gunners gig but is second-favourite to take over at Chelsea.

Gareth Southgate names his England World Cup squad on Wednesday and Arsenal's Jack Wilshere is 4-11 to make the cut.

Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been backed into 2-1 after an impressive end to the season and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold was cut from 11-8 to 4-5 by bet365 on Monday.
