Liverpool v Toulouse team news

Liverpool v Toulouse predictions

Jurgen Klopp, in the privileged position of being able to shuffle his pack with six points on the board in Group E, will make the changes that should ensure Toulouse do not get blown away at Anfield.

Renowned as one of the tougher sides in Ligue 1 to overrun, Toulouse could be hard to shift if Klopp brings in, as expected, members of his second-string.

Liverpool still ought to win this contest against a team tenth in France's top flight but it may take time to finish them off, with the Reds' chief potentially having to introduce some big-hitting match-winners off the bench should things not go his way early on.

However it plays out, Liverpool are plenty short enough, even if they are unbeaten at home since February, and since there aren't ever many goals in Toulouse's matches – seven of their last ten have produced two goals or less – Liverpool and under 3.5 goals at 29-20 is far more appealing than a 90-minute price of 1-5 the hosts.

Carles Martinez Novell's visitors have drawn six of their last ten and tend to line up in a 4-5-1, with giant frontman Thijs Dallinga somewhat isolated.

They are missing their star winger Zakaria Abouhklal and are a limited attacking force, averaging 9.4 shots per game in Ligue 1, the fourth-lowest total.

But their resilience has been seen over the first two Europa League matchdays, with a 1-1 draw at Union St Gilloise and a 1-0 win over LASK placing them second in the section, and they could keep Klopp's side from running riot at Anfield.

Key stat

Toulouse average 11 shots per game in the Europa League, 5.5 shots less than Liverpool.
