Charlton, now managerless after Ben Garner's departure on Monday, conceded a 97th-minute equaliser in their 2-2 draw at home to Stockport in the FA Cup second round and they could pay the price by losing the replay at Edgeley Park.

The League One Addicks never had a firm grip on the first game at the Valley and could have no complaints when Stockport substitute Myles Hippolyte struck late, ensuring his team would get a second bite at the cherry.

Mid-table Stockport started the League Two season slowly but have won five of their last seven league games and are well placed to mount a promotion push in the second half of the season.

Troubled Charlton had hoped to challenge for promotion in League One, but they seem to be going backwards.

They lost 1-0 at home to Cheltenham on Friday, leaving them in 17th place, and Garner has paid the price after just six months at the helm.

A lack of confidence was evident at the weekend and the trip to Stockport is unlikely to deliver a change of fortune.
