Derby were knocked out of the EFL Cup on penalties by Liverpool last Wednesday but they can clear the first obstacle of their FA Cup journey by defeating Torquay in a first-round replay at Pride Park.

National League strugglers Torquay came from two goals behind to hold Derby to a 2-2 draw at Plainmoor, but their fightback hinged on one key moment early in the second half when Derby central defender Eiran Cashin conceded a penalty and was sent off for a foul on Will Goodwin.

Asa Hall despatched the penalty and Goodwin's injury-time goal levelled things up, sparking wild celebrations.

The replay is great news for the Torquay coffers but a positive outcome seems unlikely against a Rams side doubly determined to finish the job.

Derby should expose the defensively suspect Gulls, who have shipped 15 goals in their last five matches, but there may be room for a consolation goal for the Devonians, who are an attack-minded side.
