Uihlein can get better of struggling Poulter

Injury-plagued American Peter Uihlein started this year healthy, building confidence with some strong performances on the European Tour, and the Florida-based swinger could be a factor in this week's Puerto Rico Open.

Uihlein, formerly the world's number one amateur and winner of the 2010 US Amateur Championship, should start realising his potential and lifting multiple trophies over the coming months. He can outscore Ian Poulter in a Puerto Rico match.

While the career of Uihlein looks on an upward curve after a bright start to the year, Poulter's US Tour future lies in the balance. The Englishman is playing on a ten-event medical extension and has three tournaments to go. He needs to win another $144,669 from those three outings, starting with Puerto Rico, to retain his US Tour card.

Poulter, increasingly looking like yesterday's man at the age of 41, is under pressure in Puerto Rico and showing no signs of any form. Uihlein arrives in better heart.

Adam Hadwin is not in action as he is getting married this week and the Canadian most likely to make headlines this week is Graham DeLaet.
