Munoz aiming to hold on at the Greenbrier

The story so far

Sebastian Munoz opened up with a 61 on Thursday and the Colombian has held on to the lead at the Greenbrier Classic despite coming under increasing pressure from the chasing pack.

Munoz shot an error-free 34 on the back nine in the third round to move to -14 after 54 holes, giving himself a two-shot cushion as he looks to seal a first PGA Tour victory.

Robert Streb is second after a third-round 65 ignited his challenge while Xander Schauffele and Jamie Lovemark are three off the pace.

Kelly Kraft, Davis Love and Racing Post Sport ante-post selection Russell Henley are all four behind Munoz.

Final-round advice

Munoz has an obvious chance of landing a first PGA Tour victory but the Colombian is likely to feel the pressure late in the afternoon.

He lost the outright lead at one stage in the third round before responding well to put himself in a strong position. The Colombian will be hoping that his red-hot putter stays that way and he's likely to need it if he is to win at the Old White TPC.

Munoz has holed almost 400 feet of putts this week and leads the field in strokes gained putting, but he could start to feel the heat as the winning line draws closer.

Streb is best placed to mount a serious challenge in West Virginia and is one of three PGA Tour winners in the top seven. The others are Henley and Love, who stuck around admirably after opening up with a seven-under 63 on Thursday.

Henley still looks like a potential Greenbrier champion and anyone who took 40-1 ante-post about the three-time US Tour champion should not give up hope yet.

He shot a final-round 65 to win the Houston Open in April and will need to produce a similar showing if he if to take the title.

Consecutive dropped shots at the 16th and 17th holes did serious damage to his bid yesterday but this class act can respond positively. Anyone looking for a fresh interest can consider backing Henley to finish in the top five at 4-5.

Schauffele and Lovemark are three back and worthy candidates for victory, although they are both looking to break their PGA Tour maidens while Kraft could be left to rue a third-round double-bogey at the 13th.

Threeball punters are pointed towards JB Holmes in the 6.10pm match against Hudson Swafford.

Holmes shot a bogey-free 66 in round three and will be aiming to climb the leaderboard, even though victory is probably beyond him.

Swafford was nine-under-par through his opening two rounds but shot a poor 72 yesterday to move out of contention. He has shown very little since winning the CareerBuilder Challenge in January and is readily opposed.
