Celtic have nothing but pride left to play for after last week’s 4-1 thrashing at Sparta Prague ended any hopes of qualification, and things may go from bad to worse for them in Milan.
Not only are Celtic’s European dreams over, but Neil Lennon’s men are also struggling domestically and they were bundled out of the Betfred Cup - a competition they have won in four consecutive years - after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Ross County on Sunday.
With only two wins in their last ten games in all competitions, the last thing Celtic need is a trip to the San Siro to lock horns with Serie A leaders Milan, who were 3-1 winners in Glasgow in October.
Milan don’t have much margin for error having dropped points in two of their four group games, but they can record a convincing win over a confidence-starved Celtic, who must now prioritise pegging backing rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race.
