McIlroy 3-1 to miss Birkdale cut after more 36-hole pain
Former Open winner fails to make weekend at Dundonald
Scottish Open coverage continues on Sky Sports 4, 3pm Saturday
Rory McIlroy is 3-1 with Betway to miss the cut at next week's Open Championship after he failed to make the weekend at the Scottish Open.
McIlroy's second round 71 was not enough to qualify for the final two rounds at Dundonald and that disappointment came a week after he also missed the cut at the Irish Open.
The Northern Irishman, who captured the Claret Jug at Hoylake in 2014, is 18-1 with 188Bet to claim glory at Royal Birkdale, while 16-1 is the best price available for each-way backers.
McIlroy tied for fifth at Troon last year but his 2017 outings have been limited by a hip injury and his seventh at the Masters has been his only top-ten finish since the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
He suffered further disappointment when he missed the cut at the US Open last month.
Padraig Harrington, who won the Open the last time it was played at Birkdale in 2008, shared the lead at Dundonald after a second round 68 with Germany's Alex Knappe and England's Callum Shinkwin.
Harrington is 80-1 with 188Bet for glory next week while the man he beat into second place seven years ago, Ian Poulter, is a shot behind.
Poulter is 100-1 with Betfred to win his first Claret Jug.
