Round two
Sky Sports 4, 8pm

Reigning Phoenix Open champion Hideki Matsuyama began his title defence with a bogey-free 65 yesterday and the Japanese superstar could make further progress in round two at TPC Scottsdale.

Matsuyama, an 11-1 ante-post chance but now just 7-2 to register back-to-back Phoenix triumphs, hit 17 greens-in-regulation in his opening round and sits just one shot behind seven-under-par leader Matt Kuchar.

The 24-year-old is 31 under par for his last seven rounds at the Phoenix. He relishes the course layout and continually takes advantage of the three reachable par fives and the drivable par four 17th.

Matsuyama is out at 7.16pm GMT and can be backed to see off threeball rivals Brooks Koepka, who has made an inconsistent start to the season, and Daniel Berger, who is struggling to find his best game since switching to Callaway.

H Matsuyama to win threeball
