Team news

Lyon
Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes is a major doubt so Julian Pollersbeck could deputise. Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar were doubts but are expected to play after training on Wednesday. Rayan Cherki, Maxence Caqueret and Sinaly Diomande are injured.

West Ham
Aaron Cresswell is suspended but Manuel Lanzini returns from a ban. Kurt Zouma has joined fellow centre-back Angelo Ogbonna on the sidelines.

Match preview

West Ham produced a gritty performance in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Lyon, drawing 1-1 despite playing the entire second half with ten men, and they look a big price to win the second leg in France.

Aaron Cresswell's red card hampered the Hammers' chances of taking a lead to France although they still went 1-0 up thanks to Jarrod Bowen's opener.

Their 2-0 Premier League loss at Brentford last weekend made it five straight defeats on the road although that run includes 1-0 losses at Liverpool and Sevilla and a 3-1 reverse at in-form Tottenham.

While West Ham's defence is missing the suspended Cresswell and the injured Kurt Zouma, their attacking unit should cause problems for a Lyon side set to be without first-choice goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Spurs loanee Tanguy Ndombele, who scored the first-leg equaliser, and star midfielder Houssem Aouar will be assessed after picking up knocks in Sunday's Ligue 1 draw with Strasbourg and the hosts look short enough to win in 90 minutes.

Their last three home league matches included a 1-0 defeat to Lille and a 4-2 reverse against Rennes, who were 4-0 up after just 49 minutes before conceding an own goal and a penalty.

Lyon needed an 80th-minute winner from new signing Tete to clinch a 3-2 victory over Angers in their most recent game on their own patch and West Ham, having demonstrated their defensive resilience in the first leg, can showcase their attacking threat in the return fixture.

Key stat

Lyon have kept only two clean sheets in their last 11 home matches in all competitions.
