In-form Uihlein is value to lead US threat
Solid Matsuyama can better Rahm
Matches & groups
Peter Uihlein has made a spectacular return to form this season and he rocketed further up the Race to Dubai rankings to eighth in the European Tour money list following a second-place finish at the French Open last week.
The American is great pals with recently-crowned US Open champion Brooks Koepka, himself a former European Tour player, and the 27-year-old looks determined to make his own mark on the golfing world.
Uihlein is without a victory since he won the Madeira Islands Open in 2013 but the Floridian is enjoying some of the best form of his career and is capable of shooting lowest of the four American challengers.
Excluding the co-sanctioned US Open, Uihlein is yet to miss a cut on the European Tour this year and has posted top-20 finished in Hong Kong, South Africa (twice), Dubai, India and most recently in France on Sunday.
David Lipsky and Daniel Im are both dangermen – Paul Peterson completes the quartet – but Uihlein has been the most consistent of them and should take all the beating at even-money.
In the match betting, take Hideki Matsuyama to beat Jon Rahm in a battle of the big guns.
Rahm is a wonderful talent and he acquitted himself well on his European Tour debut in Paris but he is easily frustrated and may not relish testing conditions at Portstewart.
World number two Matsuyama represents a solid alternative.
