Fitzpatrick can humble wayward Woods in marquee threeball

Tiger Woods tees off at 4.15am UK and Ireland time in the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Club, with defending champion Danny Willett and rising star Matthew Fitzpatrick for company.

Woods was unconvincing in the Farmers Insurance Open last week, swinging poorly and missing the cut by four shots. The former daddy of golf looks a million miles away from top form.

Willett is equally lacking in confidence, having missed the cut by eight shots in the Abu Dhabi Championship last time out.

Willett has been largely unimpressive since his Ryder Cup debut and this threeball could easily go the way of Fitzpatrick, who won the DP World Tour Championship on his last visit to Dubai at the end of November.
