Ricardo Gouveia is relishing the chance to compete in front of family and friends in this week's Portugal Open and the local man should be trusted to rise to the occasion.

Gouveia is 12-1 in places to win the tournament, so the same odds for him to end up the leading continental European seem particularly generous with Coral and Ladbrokes. The firms are offering each-way terms of a quarter the odds the first four places for that market.

Gouveia, who topped the Challenge Tour rankings in 2015 to book his ticket to the big time, can also be followed in a 72-hole match against Trevor Fisher. Gouveia can hit the ground running at a track he knows well, whereas Fisher has arrived at previously uncharted terrain.

Another match-bet option to consider is Pep Angles as evens outsider against Aaron Rai. The great strength of Angles is his ability to hit his ball immense distances, whereas Rai's game is based on accuracy. This wide-open layout favours Angles, who has posted three top-20 finishes on the European Tour this year.
