FIFA Ultimate QuaranTEAM: first-round preview

Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City have top pro-gamer talent

The FIFA Ultimate QuaranTEAM Cup kicks off at 7pm on Sunday, with 128 teams competing in 64-first round matches.

A single player will take the gamepad for each club but ability will vary wildly as some will be represented by members of their playing squad while others have drafted in pro-gamers.

Sheffield Wednesday have gone the pro route and handed the controller to season-ticket holder Tom Delee - his experience in top tournaments should see the Owls fly past Cambridge United in the first round.

But the odds are short, and it's the same case with other pro-gamers who should be in a different league to their opponents.

Manchester City will likely be represented by Shaun 'Shellzz' Springette, a veteran of several FIFA eClub World Cups, and he should have few problems dealing with whoever Belgian team KV Kortrijk put out.

On-loan forward Callum Robinson will represent West Brom, but he has a tough task getting past Ajax, who can call upon the talents of the Dutch club's well-established E-Sports team.

Istanbul Basaksehir have drafted in pro-gamer Sanchez for their opener with Olympique Marseille.

Tournament hosts Leyton Orient are hoping to raise £50,000 for charity, and Paddy Power have said all profits from this event will be donated to the associated good causes.
