Braga v Rangers match preview

Rangers came from behind to win the first leg of their last-32 clash against Braga 3-2 and the fact they need only a draw to progress could translate into a cagey affair at the Estadio Municipal.

Braga notched two away goals at Ibrox but they were given plenty of space by a Rangers side who played firmly on the front foot and managed seven shots on target.

The Scottish club will be without star striker Alfredo Morelos for this clash and Steven Gerrard will be hoping for the kind of defensive performance which helped them hold Portuguese outfit Porto 1-1 away and beat them 2-0 at home in the group stage.

The title is slipping away from Rangers but they know how to raise their game at the back when it counts, claiming the scalp of Celtic at the end of December, and they can ensure it's a low-scoring clash in Portugal.

Insights

  • Eight of Braga's last ten matches in all competitions have been settled by a single goal
  • Rangers have lost only one of their seven games in this season's Europa League
  • There were no more than two goals in four of Rangers's six group assignments
