Match preview

At the halfway point in the Championship season Blackburn remain the only team in the EFL yet to draw a game with 13 wins and ten defeats from their 23 matches.

They visit Sunderland after a blip in form that has seen them lose three of their last four games in all competitions, conceding 11 goals in the process.

The Black Cats have been handed a boost with the return from injury of star striker Ross Stewart, while Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has started to impress, scoring five times in his last eight games.

That level of firepower should help Tony Mowbray's men bounce back after taking a single point from their recent clashes with West Brom and Hull.

Given the poor recent defensive record of Rovers and the fact that four of their last five matches in all competitions have gone over 2.5 goals, odds-against quotes for three or more goals in this match look generous.

Key stat

Four of Blackburn's last five games in all competitions have gone over 2.5 goals
