Match preview

Championship leaders Burnley have had four weeks to savour their superb 3-0 success at home to Blackburn and they can carry on where they left off by defeating playoff hopefuls QPR at Loftus Road.

Vincent Kompany's side have led the Championship since the end of October but they were given a harsh reminder of the division's potential pitfalls last month when crashing to a 5-2 loss at Sheffield United.

The Clarets have been less convincing on their travels, taking 16 points from ten road trips, but they are facing the Hoops at a good time.

QPR briefly topped the table in October but they have taken just one point from their last five fixtures and spent much of the last fortnight coming to terms with the departure of manager Michael Beale, who accepted an offer to join Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

Beale has taken assistant managers Damian Matthew and Neil Banfield with him to Ibrox and the clearout has paved the way for Paul Hall to assume the reins on a temporary basis.

Hall has worked on the coaching staff at QPR since 2015 and will have his own ideas of how to set up the team but he inherits a group on a losing run and must pick a team without creative spark Ilias Chair, who remains at the World Cup with Morocco.

Influential attacker Chris Willock will be part of Hall's plans after shaking off a minor injury but it still looks a tough first assignment for the 50-year-old interim manager, who may start off with a home defeat.

Key stat

Burnley have won six of their last seven matches.
