Match preview

Nottingham Forest have won five Championship games in a row and look like making it six when they visit Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.

The Hatters were flying high themselves but after two draws and a defeat in their last three their position in the playoff places looks perilous given seventh placed Blackburn are now just two points behind them.

Nathan Jones has done an excellent job to be in with a shout of finishing in the top six given his small squad and even smaller budget, but they may struggle against this strong Forest side.

Steve Cooper’s impressive job has not gone unnoticed but it bears repeating that they have won 13 of their 19 league games since the beginning of December, coupled with a cup run that saw them beat Arsenal and Leicester.

They are now six points off Bournemouth in the second automatic promotion spot with seven matches to play and have two games in hand on the other sides in the playoff race.

The Reds have scored at least twice in eight of their last ten games and look to be hitting their stride at exactly the right time.

Luton also have a considerably longer injury list than the Tricky Trees and have two days less between their last game and this one after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield on Monday.

Nottingham Forest's form and the injury issues that have befallen Luton mean the away side look the bet.

Key stat

Nottingham Forest have won 13 of their last 19 Championship games
