Preview

Bookmakers expect Burnley and Norwich to be slugging it out for Championship silverware come May, but the Clarets can land the first blow and showcase their title credentials with a home victory at Turf Moor.

Both sides are looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking but while Norwich are going through a tough time, Burnley are dropping hints that they are not far from hitting top stride.

It is hard to criticise Vincent Kompany’s men given that they have lost only one of their opening 16 games, but the Belgian boss will be disappointed as eight of those fixtures have ended all-square.

However, Burnley have won three of their last four and showed great character in Saturday’s thrilling 4-2 win at Sunderland having trailed 2-0 at the interval.

The Canaries, meanwhile, threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Sheffield United on Saturday, a result which extended their winless sequence to five.

Dean Smith’s men lost the shot count 22 to ten at Bramall Lane and their two previous away trips saw them held to a 1-1 draw at Reading and beaten 2-1 by Watford.

Key stat

Norwich have conceded eight goals during their last four Championship clashes.
