Injury has struck Harry Kane at the worst possible moment with Tottenham heading to Manchester United before a Champions League clash with Real Madrid and, while there remains a chance of a midweek return, Mauricio Pochettino will have to hope his back-up players can replace the England captain at Old Trafford.

Kane's career minutes-per-goal figure is 133 but he was up to a goal every 99 minutes in the Premier League this season and dipped to a sizzling MPG of 87 last term.

Experienced Spanish striker Fernando Llorente is yet to open his account for Spurs but the summer signing is one option available to Pochettino.

Llorente's career MPG is 187, while Heung-Min Son's is 220, although the speedy South Korean was down to an MPG of 148 in last season's Premier League as he proved to be an able deputy for Kane during his two spells on the sidelines.

Few can doubt Kane is one of Europe's leading marksman, although he still has some way to go to reach the very top with Lionel Messi averaging a career MPG of 92. Messi particularly enjoys tackling this weekend's opponents Athletic Bilbao and has scored 16 times against them.

Lazio's Ciro Immobile is averaging a goal every 68 minutes in Serie A this season, but of those who play regularly Radamel Falcao leads the way. Falcao's Ligue 1 MPG this season is a staggering 58.
