Bonny Annan can cause more pain for Clyde

Annan Athletic have won four out of their last five games and can add to a late playoff push by defeating troubled Clyde.

The Galabank outfit are in a good run of form and couldn't have picked more agreeable opposition for themselves than the free-falling Bully Wee.

Annan's inspired re-signing of striker Peter Weatherson from an ill-fated stint in charge of Shettleston Juniors appears to have been the catalyst for a recent upturn in form and he has netted three times in six games since he returned for his second spell at the Ladbrokes League Two side.

Clyde crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Elgin City last week and are even worse on their travels than they are at their Cumbernauld home, which is quite a feat.

Annan have twice beaten Barry Ferguson's struggling side this term and Clyde haven't won away from home in the league since the middle of October. If they fall short in this contest it will be their tenth league game in a row without a win.

Stirling Albion need to start picking up points to get themselves away from the threat of bottom place in the same division and they should have a golden chance of doing that when Edinburgh City visit Forthbank.

The league new boys have acquitted themselves well this season after a shaky start and looked set to try to pinch a playoff place after a huge improvement in results when they found their feet.

But an accumulation of injuries have come at the wrong time for the Meadowbank side and the Binos will be hoping to take advantage.

Dave Mackay's men have picked up a couple of decent points in recent weeks against in-form Berwick Rangers and Arbroath and they are overdue a win.

The signing of ex-Rangers and Preston North End striker Andy Little was a coup and at this level the nine-times capped Northern Ireland star should excel, especially as he's still only 27.

Partick Thistle will fancy themselves to wrap up a miserable week for Hearts by beating them at Firhill.

The Jags have won two in a row, including an impressive win at St Johnstone. Since losing four goals to Celtic at the start of December, Alan Archibald's men have conceded just once at their Glasgow home.

Hearts were well beaten by city rivals Hibs in the William Hill Scottish Cup in midweek and confidence must be low for their journey along the M8. Back Thistle to break more Hearts.
