British rider Simon Yates is 7-2 to land his first Grand Tour success at the Vuelta a Espana after taking the race lead on Sunday.

Yates, who led the Giro d'Italia for 13 days earlier this year, holds a one-second advantage over Alejandro Valverde as the race heads into its second week on Tuesday.

Colombia's Nairo Quintana, winner of La Vuelta in 2016, is the general 7-4 favourite and is third in the standings, 14 seconds adrift of Yates. His compatriot Miguel Angel Lopez is second in the betting at 10-3 and begins the second week 27 seconds off the lead in seventh.

Italian sprinter Elia Viviani is odds-on to gain a second stage win of the Vuelta on Stage Ten which features just one categorised climb and is highly likely to end in a bunch sprint.
