Mark Cavendish equalled Bernard Hinault’s tally of 28 Tour de France stage victories in dramatic style in Angers yesterday.
In a pulsating finish that belied what was otherwise a sedate stage, the Manx Missile’s last-gasp bike throw saw him overtake German champion Andre Greipel in the final metres and add to his victory on stage one at odds of 5-1.
