Enda Bolger considering six-figure Listowel handicap hurdle for recruit Yanworth
High-class staying hurdler and Grade 2-winning chaser Yanworth could have his first start for Enda Bolger at Listowel on Thursday, potentially tasked with carrying top weight in the €100,000 Grade B Ladbrokes Ireland Listowel Handicap Hurdle.
The former 164-rated hurdler, who has won two Grade 1s in his 21-race career, remains with owner JP McManus.
Bolger said of the nine-year-old's potential assignment over 2m: "We're hoping to run him but obviously he hasn't run since Cheltenham [March], so he's going to need it.
The Howardstown House trainer is also responsible for two of the leading fancies in Wednesday's Guinness Kerry National, with 4-1 favourite Movewiththetimes and top weight Ballyoisin (10-1) in the mix.
The latter also has the option of attempting to repeat last year's success in the same handicap hurdle that Yanworth may reappear in, rated 25lb lower over the hurdles than fences.
As it stands, the 167-rated chaser has half the current Kerry National field running from out of the handicap, though a maximum field of 18 will go to post for the €200,000 prize.
Movewiththetimes, who was 8-1 joint-favourite for the Galway Plate when falling, impressed in a Killarney beginners' chase last time and looks set to take his chance in the Kerry festival's feature.
"We were delighted with him at Killarney and he's come out of it well," said Bolger. "We're looking forward to Wednesday with him."
