Who has Gordon Elliott included in a mammoth Super Heinz bet for charity?

It was revealed in an exclusive Racing Post interview with Gordon Elliott at the weekend that he has had a lucrative €1 Super Heinz charity bet on seven of his chances at the Cheltenham Festival this week.

A Super Heinz bet consists of 120 bets, which has 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-fold accumulators, 21 five-folds, 7 six-folds and a seven-fold accumulator, and a £/€1 win-only Super Heinz would therefore cost £/€120, with Elliott having put in an extra €70 in the charity bet alongside €50 courtesy of Paddy Power.

Elliott, who missed last year's festival, has boldly staked on seven of his stars – all of whom are priced at single-figure odds for their respective races.

His selections start on the opening day with Riviere D'Etel in the Sporting Life Arkle (2.10) as well as Mares' Hurdle (4.10) second favourite Queens Brook – both owned by Bective Stud – and concludes with leading National Hunt Chase candidate Run Wild Fred.

On Wednesday, Elliott's Super Heinz solely relies on stable star Tiger Roll in the Cross Country Chase (4.10), which could be the dual Grand National hero's swansong with a sixth festival success and fourth in this race, while Sire Du Berlais is his pick on Thursday to win the Pertemps Final (2.10).

Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (2.50) favourite Ginto – a Grade 1 winner at Naas last time – kicks off the remaining legs of his bet on the final day, and the Cullentra trainer could be celebrating his outlandish bet coming in should Mount Ida win the Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase (4.50).

What are the chances of Elliott's bet coming off?

Reality will tell you that it is near-impossible that the bet will come off, but I'm especially happy to cheer for it when it's for charity.

Remarkably, despite being in his veteran years, it is probably Tiger Roll who is Elliott's best chance of a winner among his Super Heinz.

We know he comes alive at this meeting and over the unique cross-country course, while the trainer thinks he is flying and his rivals "won't see where he goes" if it is contested on decent ground.

Given the weakness of the race, Mount Ida probably rates next best in the mares' chase given she scored on the New course last year and is unbeaten this season, while Queens Brook could easily improve to win a similarly weak Mares' Hurdle.

Sire Du Berlais usually saves his best for Cheltenham too and could be set for another bold Pertemps Final run as a dual winner who also ran well in the Stayers' Hurdle last season.

Although Run Wild Fred only has five rivals to face in the National Hunt Chase, it is a classy field that features festival winner Vanillier and Stattler.

His selections who face the toughest tasks are arguably Riviere D'Etel, who must reverse the form with Blue Lord as well as taking on Edwardstone in the Arkle, and Ginto.

The classy Hillcrest is among the opposition in what will likely be a large field, while the Albert Bartlett has also been fairly unkind to favourites in its history.
