All eyes this Saturday will be drawn to Ireland as the Juddmonte Irish Oaks (3.45) takes top billing at the Curragh.

It's expected to be a mouthwatering clash as Oaks one-two Tuesday and Emily Upjohn are set to battle it out once again.

Here, we assess their chances along with two more key contenders.

Emily Upjohn

Form: 1-112

Strengths: After stumbling out of the gates and being forced wide, Emily Upjohn delivered a fine performance to go down by a short head in the Oaks at Epsom. Before that she was a perfect 3-3 and she has been freshened up since, missing Royal Ascot for a chance to turn the tables with Epsom conqueror Tuesday.

Weaknesses: She will have to be quicker away as a repeat performance at the gates could hinder her chances at Classic redemption.

Odds: 1-2

What they say: John Gosden, joint-trainer

"I was very happy with Emily Upjohn's work, which was on beautiful ground, and she is pointing towards the Irish Oaks. It was nice to get her back on grass.

"She didn't run at Royal Ascot as it came a bit quickly after Epsom as she'd already had three runs. She's in the King George, but I have a lot of respect for the two Derby winners as well as the Arc winner so it makes sense to stay against her own age group at this stage."

Tuesday

Form: 2-13214

Strengths: The smooth-travelling filly got the better of Emily Upjohn in the Epsom Oaks, and backed that performance up with a good fourth against the colts in the Irish Derby at the end of last month. Has a good chance of giving trainer Aidan O'Brien a record seventh victory in the contest.

Weaknesses: Only a short head separated her from Emily Upjohn, who had to make up lots of ground at the start, and she is backed up relatively quickly after a tough race last time out.

Odds: 4-1

What they say: Aidan O'Brien, trainer

"We won't be finalising anything until the middle of the week. We're just going to see how Tuesday is and what way the ground and everything is going to be.

"She came out of the Irish Derby really well and we were happy with her.

"It's not long since she ran and we're just trying to give her as much time as we can to really finalise it."

Magical Lagoon

Form: 417-21

Strengths: A tenacious victory in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot showed that this distance was well within her compass and was her best performance. With only two starts in her three-year-old campaign, she could still have the necessary improvement required to mix it at Group 1 level.

Weaknesses: She will need to improve again if she is to live up to Emily Upjohn and Tuesday, who both possess a potent turn of foot and are proven Group 1 performers.

Odds: 4-1

What they say: Jessica Harrington, trainer

"Magical Lagoon is in great form and all roads lead to the Irish Oaks. She's had a nice break and it will be just over four weeks since the Ribblesdale, which is the perfect amount of time for her to get over it and to freshen her up.

"We were never going to the Oaks at Epsom and we sidestepped that deliberately. The plan was always to go to Ascot and thankfully it worked out.

"She only ran three times as a two-year-old and has had two starts this season, so I think there's more to come from her."

Tranquil Lady

Form: 812-4168

Strengths: A comfortable winner of the Group 3 Blue Wind Stakes, Tranquil Lady is a strong-travelling filly and the sole entry from the Joseph O'Brien yard.

Weaknesses: Couldn't live with Emily Upjohn and Tuesday when switched to front-running tactics in the Oaks at Epsom and will need to bounce back from a poor display in the Pretty Polly at the end of last month.

Odds: 7-1

What they say: Joseph O'Brien, trainer, speaking after her Blue Wind Stakes win

"I was a bit worried about the ground and Richard [Ryan, Teme Valley racing manager] convinced me to run her. I don't think she wants it too soft but she handled it well.

"We think she's a nice filly and she looked it today. The Oaks is definitely a conversation we'll have with Richard and Jim [Cockburn] now. She popped her head up today as if she should be going there. We kind of had the Curragh in our minds but we have to certainly talk about it now."

Sky Bet: 1-2 Emily Upjohn, 4-1 Magical Lagoon, Tuesday, 7 Tranquil Lady, 14 History, 16 Emily Dickinson, 22 Cairde Go Deo, 33 bar
