Tom Marquand put Cazoo St Leger dark horse Zechariah through his paces on Friday morning, but connections will not hang about waiting for him to commit to the ride.

A 12-1 chance with William Hill to land next week's Classic at Doncaster, Zechariah covered a mile and two furlongs at Martyn and Freddie Meade's stunning Manton base, emerging nicely on top from reliable yardstick Infrastructure.

However, Marquand may be required to head to Ireland on the same day as the St Leger to ride for William Haggas, the jockey's main supporter.
