'We want to keep this run going' - title leader O'Brien excited about the future

Fergal O'Brien is hoping his fast start over the summer can translate into a career-best campaign and a Cheltenham Festival winner as he continues to reap the rewards of moving to his new stable.

The yard recorded a whopping 45 winners between the start of May and the end of August, a huge increase from ten in the same timeframe in 2019, and O'Brien remains at the top of the trainers' championship with an advantage of over £90,000 over nearest challenger Peter Bowen.

The trainer is not getting too carried away, insisting he will "let the others worry" about being top trainer, but with eyecatching figures going into the main part of the jumps season he is excited about the future and has one big target in mind.

"I'd love to have a Cheltenham Festival winner and that's definitely something I want to tick off the list," the Gloucestershire-based trainer said.
