Attendance for next pilot events capped at 1,000 but Warwick chief remains keen

Officials at Warwick are keen for the track's planned pilot event to go ahead this month despite the government confirming on Wednesday evening that the meeting would have a limited capacity of 1,000 people.

Warwick, on September 21, and Newmarket, on September 24-26, have both planned to welcome back spectators, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has said the events can still go ahead "subject to locations not having local prevalence concerns".

In a statement, the DCMS said: "The government is to reduce the number of people that can attend sporting events to pilot the safe return of spectators to 1,000 in light of the increase in the number of positive coronavirus cases.
