Voting opens on who can earn a Hall of Fame place as the greatest sprinter
Four of racing's greatest sprinters have been selected to fight it out for a place in the Qipco British Champions Series Hall of Fame, with a public vote set to determine who earns the coveted place.
Black Caviar, Dayjur, Lochsong and Moorestyle were selected by the Hall of Fame judging panel as the greatest sprinters to have raced in Britain since 1970 and worthy of a place alongside the inaugural Hall of Fame inductees Frankel and Lester Piggott.
However, it is down to racing fans to decide which of the four will make the cut with voting open on until 2pm on Friday, September 24.
Rod Street, chief executive of the Champions Series, said: "The Hall of Fame panel has agreed the next round of human and equine inductions, which will be announced in due course.
"Included in their deliberations was a shortlist of horses for the launch of the public vote element of the Hall of Fame. This provides racing fans with an opportunity to have their say on which horse should enter the Qipco British Champions Series Hall of Fame, taking their place alongside sporting legends and existing inductees, Frankel and Lester Piggott.
"These four sprinters have provided a multitude of thrilling moments for the sport and we're excited to see who the public decides to induct ahead of British Champions Day next month."
The Hall of Fame was launched to mark the tenth anniversary of the Champions Series, with new inductees being revealed on Champions Day at Ascot on October 16.
The connections of the horse winning the public vote to join the Hall of Fame will receive a specially commissioned medal designed by luxury jewellers Asprey to mark the achievement.
