The Gambling Commission has revealed that it began an investigation into stricken betting operator Football Index as early as May last year.

The industry regulator has come under heavy fire for its handling of the collapse of Football Index, who called in administrators last week.

Football Index's licence was only suspended by the Gambling Commission last Thursday, but the regulator reportedly received a number of warnings about the operator's viability from as early as the start of 2020.
