With less than a week to go until the start of Cheltenham, the jockeys riding at the meeting will be readying themselves for the hectic action on the course.

Racing tight and fast, the riders will be giving each other as little room as possible as they jostle for the best position and plot the quickest routes to the finishing post.

So it was a shrewd move by Racing Post columnist Sam Twiston-Davies to get some practice in by navigating the London Tube system last week on a visit to Canary Wharf, with commuters in London famous for their unyielding attitudes to space and sheer dedication to get to their destination as fast, and as quietly, as possible.
