Tonight's racing: three runners who catch the eye at the two fixtures
There are two evening fixtures on the all-weather to keep us entertained, both of which are on At The Races. Wolverhampton kicks things off at 5.10pm, with the card at Newcastle beginning at 5.30pm. Here are three runners to keep an eye on
Headman
6.00 Newcastle
We all know all-weather maidens and novices are always worth a watch this time of year, and the presence of Headman at Newcastle reiterates the point.
By Kingman, who has made an excellent start to his career as a stallion, Headman is a short-priced favourite to make a winning debut for Kingman’s owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah.
He takes on a previous winner in Our Rodney and Repaupo, who has run two good races so far. A smart performance in this race from Headman would certainly be eye catching.
Calling The Wind
6.45 Wolverhampton
Calling The Wind has gradually been getting the hang of the game and was an impressive winner at Chelmsford last time.
Trainer Sir Mark Prescott prepared for such an event and already had the juvenile entered up at Wolverhampton, meaning Calling The Wind runs under a 6lb penalty and is 5lb well-in.
Wolverhampton is a sharper course than Chelmsford, but he has shown form here in the past and is likely to make a bold bid for the hat-trick.
Letmestopyouthere
8.45 Wolverhampton
Hollie Doyle is going to be a jockey to keep an eye on this winter with her tactical nous and understanding of pace likely to be a key asset to the chances of many horses.
She has struck up a particularly fruitful association with trainer Archie Watson in the last few months, and gets the leg up on stable debutant Letmestopyouthere this evening.
A formerly useful individual, he is likely to be well-placed by new connections and Doyle is sure to give him every chance to excel around Wolverhampton’s tight turns.
