Tim Easterby hits 100 winners for first time but regrets missing out on Classic

Tim Easterby toasted reaching 100 winners on the Flat for the first time at Redcar on Wednesday but admitted he had missed out on his main target for the season.

While pleased to reach the milestone, there was some regret for the North Yorkshire trainer, whose hopes of capturing the St Leger at Doncaster with Wells Farhh Go were scuppered when the Bahrain Trophy winner suffered a stress fracture 11 days before the race.

He said: “My only target this year was to win the St Leger and it didn’t really matter how many winners I had around that, but unfortunately that wasn’t achievable. In general we don’t set targets and just try to send out as many winners as we can."
