Three horses to keep an eye on at Kempton this evening
There are eight races at Kempton (5.45) to take us deep into the evening on Wednesday, with several intriguing contests to look forward to. The action will be on Racing UK and here are three horses well worth making the time to watch
Queen Maureen
6.45 Kempton
You can never take your eye off two and three-year-old maidens at this time of year, after all you could miss an Enable or something similar if you do.
Tonight’s card at Kempton has a host of potentially exciting horses for the future in action, and it will be fascinating to see how Queen Maureen fares on her racecourse debut.
A sister to Group 1 winner Elusive City, Queen Maureen lines up for leading trainer Hugo Palmer and a win from her, at any point, is sure to make her highly valuable.
Yellowhammer
8.15 Kempton
Punters are likely to still be singing the name of Roger Charlton after the trainer masterminded an almighty coup in the Cesarewitch at the weekend with Withhold.
In the shape of Yellowhammer he appears to have another unexposed and potentially useful individual. She has won two of her three starts, including overcoming a long absence and testing ground to just get up to win at Newmarket last time.
Charlton describes the Lady Rothschild-owned filly as “talented” and if she beats this competitive field she will be another exciting runner for the trainer next year.
Stanley
8.45 Kempton
It would be fair to say trainer Richard Hughes has been getting more than a little frustrated at finishing second.
The former champion jockey has had his best season as a trainer, but it could have been even better if some of his 82 seconds had managed to get their heads in front.
Stanley is one who has finished runner-up for Hughes this season, but looks to have a good chance of getting the win this evening.
