Third Time Lucky, who will be partnered by Ebor-winning apprentice Adam McNamara, is likely to start favourite for Saturday’s Betfred Cambridgeshire after ante-post market leader Sacred Act was taken out of the £160,000 showpiece.

Winner of the 1m1f heritage handicap 12 months ago, Richard Fahey’s four-year-old bids to become the first horse to follow up since Prince De Galles in 1970. On Thursday evening he was 8-1 with the sponsors to pull off a memorable double.

Eddystone Rock, also prominent in ante-post lists, will also miss the race after producing an unsatisfactory scope on Thursday.
