'They're all great ideas' - trainers hail extra races at expanded Royal Ascot

Trainers have given a broad welcome to the six races added to the Royal Ascot programme and are already identifying likely candidates.

The Buckingham Palace Handicap has been revived, consolation races for the Wokingham and Royal Hunt Cup introduced and three new one-off handicaps devised to provide extra opportunities at the meeting, which will start on June 16 provided racing is given the all- clear to resume next month.

"I think they're all great ideas under the current circumstances, particularly as we don't know what the safety factors are going to be," said Ian Williams.
