Was it a big day?

It was not a big day, it was a typical winter’s Friday night racing in Dundalk.

How much was entry on the gate?

€15 general admission, €10 for senior citizens and students.

Other than restaurants/hospitality, what were the food and beverage options?

In the main stand there are two bars on the ground level. They are adjacent to the on-track bookmakers and Bar One Racing shop with Silks Carvery the main food attraction.

Silks has a wide array of options including large portions of roast/braised beef, lamb, turkey, stuffed chicken and fish. It also has a vegetarian option, offering a generous helping of vegetable curry. All main courses are reasonably priced, ranging from €9 to €13.

For something smaller, you can get a soup and roll for €3.70 or a plate of chips for €3.50. There are also some child friendly options, where you can get chicken goujons or sausages with a side of chips for €8.

Silks also operated a bar on the ground floor which was well stocked and staffed. A pint of Guinness cost €5 and a celebratory glass of Prosecco was €7.

What's the damage?

Cheapest pint: €5, Guinness or Smithwick's
Guinness: €5
Champagne: Bottle of Moet is €66 and a glass of Prosecco is €7
Burger: No burger available but a nice selection of meals on offer at Silks Carvery.

What was the food like?

I had the roast beef, and the portion was nice and large. It was served with chips, seasoned vegetables and potatoes and it certainly fills you up and is everything you would require on a cold Friday night.

There was a wide array of vegetables and sides on offer and the gravy was nice and thick. It was good value for money at €13.

And the queues?

The crowd was small and the bar and restaurant were well manned, so there was ample space around.
