Lofty standard set by 1,000 Guineas favourites - but improving Classic trial winners pose serious threat
The three supposed 2,000 Guineas trials run in the last week may not have much of a bearing on Newmarket, with Feilden Stakes winner Canberra Legend, who achieved a Racing Post Rating of 107, more likely to run in a Derby trial and Greenham Stakes victor Isaac Shelby (117) reportedly set to run in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains.
Indestructible (112), winner of the Craven Stakes, is likely to run in the Guineas but holds an outside chance at best, his performance actually doing more to boost the claims of Chaldean, who beat him in both the Acomb and Champagne Stakes last year.
Of more interest with a view to Newmarket were the fillies, with both Mammas Girl and Remarquee putting themselves into the 1,000 Guineas picture.
