The Evening Punt: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Monday

GOOD THING

(7.50 Windsor)

This daughter of Sea The Moon isn't the easiest ride as she tends to race keenly and hang left under pressure, but she has improved for each of her three runs this season and looks a filly on the up over this trip. Second on her first two starts this campaign over a mile here, Birdcage Walk marked herself as a future winner on her penultimate outing when runner-up to subsequent dual scorer Bighearted (third and fourth also won since) and confirmed that with a ready display from the front at Nottingham. That was her first start over 1m2f and came on heavy ground, but the return to quicker conditions shouldn't be a problem and I'm hopeful she will get an easy time of things up front today.

IRISH ANGLE

The Lady's Bid (7.40 Ballinrobe)

I narrowed this 1m4½f apprentice handicap down to Molly Kaye and The Lady's Bid, and it was the latter that came out on top on my shortlist on the back a fast-finishing fourth over 1m2f at Navan. The Famous Name filly showed little in three maidens last season and didn't show expected improvement on handicap debut at Gowran in June when finishing 12th of 17. However, she seemed to spark into life off a mark of 48 when last seen. Virtually last of a big field with a furlong to go, The Lady's Bid quickened up really nicely to pass all but three rivals with a huge burst from the back of the pack. Alan Persse got a fine tune out of her that day and the fact he's retained the ride is a huge plus, while the extra two furlongs should suit her down to the ground. She's been dropped 2lb for that run and I can't see her finishing out of the frame.
