Suzi’s Connoisseur, officially 3lb well in for Saturday’s £150,000 Gigaset International Handicap, was yesterday reported in tip-top order by trainer Stuart Williams for the 7f contest at Ascot.

Joint-favourite at 10-1 with several bookmakers and cut to that price (from 12) by Coral yesterday, the 100-rated Suzi’s Connoisseur, runner-up to Swift Approval in the Silver Bunbury Cup at Newmarket this month, has the opportunity to race off his old mark of 97.

Williams said: “He’s been targeted at the race. It’s been the plan for a while. He’s 3lb well in and in very good form. He’ll like the fast ground and Oisin Murphy rides him once again.”
