Three to watch under the lights at Wolverhampton tonight

As today's jump racing finishes, Wolverhampton switches on its lights for a teatime meeting of eight races. Here are three interesting runners later on the card.

Star Of Southwold (5.45)

This strapping three-year-old did not build on an impressive novice win at Newmarket in April where he beat Stream Of Stars who went on to win at Ascot and run in the Queen's Vase at the royal meeting, getting an official rating of 96.

Star Of Southwold has moved from Richard Hannon to Mick Apppleby, last season's all-weather champion trainer, and his owners Middleham Park Racing remain confident he is "back to his best" for this off a mark of 84.

Lumen (6.15)

This three-year-old, trained by Roger Charlton, has a remarkable record in a five-race career to date. In his first four races he looked short of ability and stable confidence when beaten at prices of 9-1, 66-1, 100-1 and 66-1, including in two runs at Wolverhampton.

Given a handicap mark of 47 and sent to Lingfield with a visor added over two miles, half a mile more than in any of his other races, Lumen landed good support into 2-1 favourite on his fifth start. He did not look an easy ride in the visor, which is retained, for George Wood, who keeps the ride and has five winners from his last 17 rides.

Captain Dan (7.15)

Any odds against has been snapped up about this Irish challenger. John James Feane has sent over two winners here from six runners from his base at The Curragh this year and this four-year-old arrives after just two career starts, both this autumn and at Dundalk.

They were over six furlongs and a mile and he runs over seven with John Egan booked this time against a field of mainly disappointing rivals.
