Special meeting to discuss claims council has overcharged Musselburgh by £1m

Claims that East Lothian Council has overcharged Musselburgh racecourse around £1 million in rent and legal fees are set to be discussed at a special meeting at the end of the month.

It is the latest episode in the ongoing dispute between councillors and the Lothian Racing Syndicate (LRS), who have jointly run the racecourse through the Musselburgh Racing Associated Committee (MRAC).

The request for the matter to be discussed was made to the council's interim chief executive Alex McCrorie at last week's meeting of the MRAC, which had been due to be the last before Chester takes over the running of the course in March.
