Spear team hoping Lightning can strike twice at Group 1 level
Sussex Stakes hero Lightning Spear will be given the opportunity to try and bag at least one more top-flight success this season with connections mulling over four options for the seven-year-old.
After several Group 1 near misses, Lightning Spear deservedly claimed victory at the highest level when winning at Goodwood earlier in the month.
On his 16th Group 1 appearance, the son of Pivotal finally took out one of Flat racing's biggest prizes, defeating Expert Eye by a length and a half.
Trips abroad could now await, with races in France and America potentially on Lightning Spear's agenda.

David Redvers, racing manager for owners Qatar Racing Limited, said on Monday: "Lightning Spear's options are the Moulin, the Foret, the QEII and the Breeders' Cup Mile.
"It will depend entirely upon what Sheikh Fahad and David [Simcock] want to do with him, and on the ground and the competition. He won't do all four obviously, but he might do two."
Trips to France are nothing new for Lightning Spear, as he has previously competed in the Prix du Moulin and the Prix Jacques le Marois, but he has not run at the Breeders' Cup before.
