Star South African filly Smart Call is now in Newmarket and will run in the Sun Chariot Stakes on October 1 before being flown to California for the Breeders’ Cup.

Trainer Alec Laird, who sent over London News to finish third to Bosra Sham in the 1997 Prince of Wales's Stakes after winning the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong, said: “She arrived last Wednesday and is based at Mary Slack’s Abington Place stables.

“She doesn’t have to do any further quarantine as the European authorities accepted that the three months she did in Mauritius was enough. The place she stayed at was half an hour from any other horse.
