Silvestre de Sousa and King Power Racing to end three-year partnership
Silvestre de Sousa will not ride as retained jockey for the Srivaddhanaprabha family's King Power Racing next season after an "amicable" decision was taken not to renew his contract.
De Sousa, 40, became King Power's first retained rider in 2019, the year after he claimed the third of his Flat jockeys' championships in Britain, having agreed to the role following a meeting with billionaire racing enthusiast Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died in a helicopter accident in October 2018.
With King Power continuing under the stewardship of Srivaddhanaprabha's son Aiyawatt, De Sousa has gone on to ride 100 winners in their colours, headlined by Group 1 victories in the 2019 British Champions Sprint Stakes on Donjuan Triumphant and this year's Nunthorpe Stakes on Winter Power.
