'Significant six-figure loss' pending for Wetherby as jumps tracks feel pinch

The possibility of crowds being absent from sporting events for the next six months has left winter jumps track Wetherby staring down the barrel of a "significant six-figure loss".

The timeframe outlined by government on Tuesday for heightened Covid-19 restrictions directly overlaps with the West Yorkshire track's peak months for business.

Wetherby has staged Flat fixtures in recent years, but its big earners are next month's Charlie Hall meeting and the Christmas fixtures on December 26 and 27.
