Thursday means one thing – evening action under the floodlights at Chelmsford. There are eight races to get your teeth stuck into, with the action getting under way on At The Races from 5.25pm. Here are the ones to watch

Lord George
6.55 Chelmsford

Some horses simply enjoy the all-weather surfaces better than turf. Lord George could well be one of those horses.

In five starts on the all-weather he has won twice and been placed twice. The only time he has not been in the first three was when he was fourth in the Northumberland Plate, beaten a length and a half by classy stablemate Higher Power.

Since that run at Newcastle, Lord George has produced two lesser runs on turf but returns to the all-weather tonight, once again with the assistance of the excellent George Wood.

Diagnostic
7.55 Chelmsford

An impressive piece of placing here from trainer William Haggas, who is able to run the progressive Diagnostic in a 0-75 despite her being rated 81.

In fact, her official mark is 2lb higher still and the Cheveley Park Stud-owned filly gets into this contest courtesy of a 6lb penalty she carries for an easy three-length win last week.

The only thing that could count against her is that she is racing over 6f for the first time in her career. However, the positives seem to far outweigh the negatives on this occasion.

Dream Revival
9.00 Chelmsford

Trainer Paul Collins has yet to saddle a winner of the Flat, from 14 attempts, but he could get off the mark tonight in the concluding contest.

Dream Revival was not beaten far when second on her first try at the course and steps up in trip for this race tonight.

There is not much recent form up for grabs in this Class 7 contest so she would seem to have as good a chance as any.
