Robbie Power to ride Tiger Roll for first time in Easysland clash at Cheltenham

Robbie Power is to partner Tiger Roll for the first time at Cheltenham on Friday as the dual Grand National winner renews his rivalry with Easysland in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase.

The Gordon Elliott-trained ten-year-old is looking to reverse the form with the French challenger, who finished 17 lengths ahead of him at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Elliott and Power famously teamed up to win the Grand National in 2007 with Silver Birch, and Tiger Roll is a 3-1 chance for Friday's race.

The David Cottin-trained Easysland, who will be ridden by Jonathan Plouganou, receives 4lb from Tiger Roll – he defeated him off level weights last time.

Cheltenham Friday card

Potters Corner, rated 16lb lower than Tiger Roll, will make his first start over the cross-country fences for Christian Williams and Jack Tudor. The ten-year-old is making his first start since winning the Welsh National in December.

The remaining six runners are all out of the handicap, with the fourth highest-rated Little Bruce 35lb behind the 171-rated topweight Tiger Roll.

Cottin also runs Vino Royale with Sam Twiston-Davies on board, and while Kingswell Theatre, winner in 2017, also runs.

Elsewhere on the card, seven runners have been declared to tackle the Grade 2 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle. The Kim Bailey-trained Does He Know won at the course last month and takes on Grand Mogul, Petrastar and Royal Ascot winner The Grand Visir.

Magic Saint tops nine runners in the Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase, while Southfield Stone, Protektorat, Mossy Fen and Paint The Dream complete the line-up in the SSS Super Alloys Supports Racing Welfare Novices' Chase over two and a half miles.

The going at Cheltenham is currently described as good, good to soft in places on the chase, hurdle and cross-country course with rain forecast on Wednesday and Thursday night.
